The School-to-Career Coordinator leads the district's work-based learning program by connecting students to real-world career experiences. This role is responsible for developing employer partnerships, securing student placements, and ensuring students build the skills necessary for success in the workforce. This is a 3/8th time position.
This is an execution-focused role. Success depends on the ability to build relationships, create opportunities, and ensure students follow through.
Program Overview
Students participate in structured work-based learning during the school day (typically 1–2 class periods). Students are responsible for securing their own placements and transportation, with final approval by the coordinator. The program integrates academic learning with real workplace experience.
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa Teaching License required
- Preference for candidates with a Methods of Coordination (MOC) endorsement
- Secondary-level licensed teachers may apply if willing to obtain MOC endorsement (district support may be available)
- Experience in career and technical education (CTE), work-based learning, or workforce development preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to develop employer partnerships and manage multiple student placements
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the School-to-Career (work-based learning) program
- Build and maintain partnerships with local employers and community organizations
- Support and approve student worksite placements prior to each semester
- Monitor student attendance, performance, and behavior at school and job sites
- Coordinate scheduling with administration and school counselors
- Oversee student completion of:
- Manage communication and assignments through Google Classroom
- Ensure program expectations, eligibility, and accountability are consistently enforced
- Visit business partners to ensure student accountability
