Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our Crisis Unit, located in Brantley, AL in Crenshaw County, providing temporary observation, stabilization, and intensive support to individuals experiencing acute behavioral health crises. This role operates within a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, focusing on timely access to care, person-centered treatment, and crisis response services in a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
- Strong observation, communication, and de-escalation skills
- Ability to assess and respond appropriately to behavioral and emotional changes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Maturity, confidence, and emotional stability in high-stress situations
- Physical ability to implement Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) interventions, including lifting up to 85 pounds and pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and stoop as required for continuous observation and consumer care
- Must become Medication Assistance Certified (MAC) upon hire
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous supervision and support for individuals in temporary observation within the Crisis Unit
- Monitor, document, and report consumer behavior, mood, and safety concerns in real time
- Respond to crisis situations using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques
- Implement Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) interventions as needed to maintain safety
- Assist with intake, orientation, discharge, and coordination of care within the CCBHC care model
- Support consumers with daily living needs and promote a therapeutic environment
- Assist with medications and delegated nursing tasks as assigned
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized unit
- Collaborate with clinical staff to support stabilization, recovery, and treatment goals
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a crisis unit, inpatient setting, or behavioral health environment
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and person-centered support services
ALL candidates must be able to type and have basic computer skills, possess a valid driver’s license, eligibility for coverage under center liability insurance and individually held vehicle liability insurance with a clear background check.
