Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Worker to join our Crisis Unit, providing temporary observation and intensive support to individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. In this role, you will work directly with adults requiring close monitoring, stabilization, and immediate intervention in a secure and structured environment.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.

  • Must possess the ability to observe, assess, and respond appropriately to behavioral and emotional changes.

  • Must demonstrate strong communication and de-escalation skills.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Must possess maturity, confidence, and emotional stability in high-stress situations.

  • Must have the physical strength necessary to implement Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) interventions, including the ability to lift up to 85 pounds and push/pull up to 150 pounds.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend, and stoop as required to ensure continuous observation and assist in consumer care.

  • Must become Medication Assistance Certified (MAC) to assist with medications and delegated nursing tasks once hired.

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous observation and supervision of consumers in temporary observation status within the Crisis Unit.

  • Monitor and document consumer behavior, mood, and safety concerns in real time.

  • Respond promptly to crisis situations using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.

  • Implement Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) interventions as necessary to maintain safety.

  • Assist with intake, orientation, and discharge processes as directed.

  • Support consumers with activities of daily living as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment within the unit.

  • Assist with medications and other nursing tasks as delegated.

  • Collaborate with clinical staff to support stabilization and treatment goals.

Preferred Skills (optional to include):

  • Experience working in a crisis setting, inpatient unit, or behavioral health environment.

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention techniques.
