SALARY RANGE: $23.91 per hour ($42,500 Annual)
WORK SCHEDULE: Temporary, Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday, may include some evenings and weekends.
LOCATION: South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, SC
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
Preferred: Experience teaching general music education programs. Experience working directly with K-12 public school arts teachers, administrators, and students. Experience working in afterschool and summer student enrichment programs.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Outreach and Community Engagement, the Music Outreach Teaching Artist/Service Learning Coordinator designs and implements meaningful in person and digital outreach experiences for K-12 students and teachers statewide. This position supports the school’s mission to be a resource to teachers and students across South Carolina. Outreach responsibilities include developing and implementing programming for classrooms and afterschool agencies, developing digital resources, supporting professional learning experiences, acting as a faculty and community liaison for the Office of Outreach (including collaboration across art forms and the Humanities), and supporting communication and administrative needs. The Music Outreach Teaching Artist also acts as Advisor to Governor’s School students involved in Connecting Arts Through Service, a community service/ service learning club dedicated to developing SCGSAH students as community service leaders. Through this role, the advisor also coordinates a schoolwide day of service. Experience writing lesson plans and using the SC College and Career Readiness Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency is preferred. Public speaking, strong written communication, collaboration, and office administration skills are required. Evening and weekend work as needed. Statewide travel is expected, with an increase in summer months. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
