Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Prosecutor role located in Columbia, SC. The Prosecutor is responsible for case preparation, representing the South Carolina Department of Corrections in legal proceedings, drafting legal documents, and collaborating with investigators and other officials. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing case files, planning litigation strategies, conducting legal research, and presenting cases in hearings or trials. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and communication skills to ensure compliance with laws and regulations while advocating effectively on behalf of the agency.
Qualifications
- Legal expertise in case preparation, trial procedures, and legal representation
- Proficiency in legal research and drafting legal documents such as motions, briefs, and reports
- Strong proficiency in communication, including verbal advocacy and written documentation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with law enforcement, investigators, and legal teams
- Bar admission in the state of South Carolina and in good standing
- Familiarity with corrections-related legal issues or public sector work is a plus
- Critical thinking skills, confidentiality, and ethical integrity
