- Identifies, coordinates and instructs NEO, orientation, basic and in-service classes for uniformed and non-uniformed staff both at the SCDC training academy and at the designated training locations throughout the state.
- Researches, develops, and updates lesson plans, training aids, manuals, tests and evaluation instruments to comply with agency policy, ACA standards, and State/Federal Law.
- Maintains an accurate and up-to-date filing system for training.
- Ensures records are maintained to meet ACA, CLEE requirements and any enforced consent decrees.
- Maintain a level of proficiency with computer technology, software, and media equipment.

SCDC Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
- A bachelor's degree plus one (1) year teaching/training experience.
- An associate's degree plus two (2) years teaching/training experience.
- A high school diploma plus three (3) years teaching/training experience.
