Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems. An associate degree or a bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements
One (1) year of help desk experience also preferred.

- Limited supervision-employee is expected to follow established objectives with minimal direction from supervisor.
- Provides first level support and help desk services for users of SCDC mainframe systems, PC Networks, and telecommunications systems.
- Serves as the central point of contact for all password resets, user IDs, access issues, and related technical support inquiries.
- Coordinates IT and telecommunications hardware exchanges, repairs, and support services for equipment to include printers, card scanners, telephones, cell phones, digital cameras, and other related devices.
- Conducts precursory evaluations and of IT Equipment.
- Provides technical support to end users to ensure proper use and functionality of data phones, VPN access, Duo tokens, and other related technologies.
- Maintains current knowledge of evolving technology systems and applications in order to effectively troubleshoot issues and provide user support.
- Supports video conferencing equipment, multi-function printers/copiers and emerging technologies.
- Serves as back-up to other help desk staff members in the performance of their duties, and continue cross-training, so all members will be able to assist with all help desk duties.
- Assist with documenting help desk procedures and ensuring latest processes are documented in the help desk guide.
- Assist in maintaining proper IT equipment and telecommunications equipment inventories.
- Performs minor repairs of equipment, when possible, and determines the need for replacement parts or escalation to authorized vendors for advanced repair services.
