Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

- Under general supervision of the warden, incumbents will assist in the daily planning and coordination of all operations and program areas of the institution to include, but not limited to, classification, human resources, education, food service, commissary/laundry, and security at Livesay.
- Assumes responsibilities of the warden in the warden’s absence.
- Serves as on-call official on rotating basis.
- Supervises, Inspects and ensures proper security & control measures are in effect and enforced.
- Ensure proper control, issue and use of weapons, keys, security devices and agency equipment.
- Ensures institutional Buildings and state property are properly secured.
- Trains, develops, Instructs, evaluates & counsels subordinates to ensure performance of duty in accordance with state laws & agency policies.
- Interviews and counsel’s inmates as necessary to ensure maximum safety & security.
- Prepare reports, studies, regulations & policies for submission to higher authority.
- Correspond with inmates & public/private parties.
- On call 24/7. Working hours may vary.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

SCDC Minimum Requirements
- A high school diploma and ten (10) years’ experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, including five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for up to 1/2 of required supervisory experience (associate = 2 years, bachelor's and above = 2 1/2 years).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
