Water Quality Plant Operator

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the maintenance, operation and repair of equipment related to the City’s Water Quality (wastewater) System.

Examples of Duties

• Monitor, maintain, operate and repair equipment and facilities related to the City’s wastewater collection and treatment system.
• Create and maintain accurate record of repairs, routine maintenance tasks, pump station callouts and other significant work tasks.
• Perform general external maintenance tasks such as mowing grass, trimming, and snow removal.
• Performs indoor facility maintenance tasks such as cleaning, mopping, and painting.
• Respond to on-call and weekend duties on a rotating schedule after training period.
• Ensures work is performed in accordance with established safety and operational procedures and techniques, requiring independent judgment in operating equipment.
• Performs duties in accordance with established procedures and techniques, requiring independent judgment and decision making.
• Monitor and collect samples for State wastewater reporting. Perform basic laboratory functions.

• Responsible for accurate data entry into State reporting forms.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent. One year of relevant work experience with operation of mechanical, electrical, and automotive tools and equipment; equivalency considered.
• Valid VT CDL license with Tanker Endorsement or must ability to obtain within the first six months of employment.
• VT Grade 1-DM Wastewater Operator’s License or ability to obtain within the first six months of employment.
