What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Barista position at South Bronx United?
SCOPE
South Bronx United is looking to hire an energetic and talented individual to be part of our café team as a Part-Time Barista as we launch The Clubhouse Café, a social enterprise coffee shop adjacent to Yankee Stadium on River Avenue in the Bronx. The Clubhouse Café will support the mission of South Bronx United and be a part of a new workforce development program providing young people with career training and their first experience in the workforce.
The right candidate will have experience in coffee and café service. Staff will be expected to attend training through Devoción Coffee.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lead Barista’s responsibilities will include:
1. Serve as barista at the café and the main presence and point of contact for customers, staff, and vendors.
2. Deliver an excellent customer experience: Resolve any customer concerns.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Minimum 1 year of experience as a barista
A NYC food handler's license (or willingness to quickly obtain) and sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
Effective communication and customer service skills, especially with youth and young adults.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective in multi-cultural and cross-cultural settings and understanding of individuals of all backgrounds. (Conversational Spanish proficiency is a plus)
Familiarity with the South Bronx community or other neighboring communities is preferred.
TIME & COMPENSATION
We expect part-time staff to have about 20 hours per week, with more hours available during Yankee Stadium events.
$16/hr plus tips
