SAVES is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician Shift Lead to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.
As a Registered Veterinary Technician Shift Lead, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients while leading and supporting your team. From facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to coaching and mentoring team members, you’ll help ensure smooth day-to-day operations on the floor and deliver exceptional care.

As a Registered Veterinary Technician Shift Lead, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients while leading and supporting your team. From facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to coaching and mentoring team members, you’ll help ensure smooth day-to-day operations on the floor and deliver exceptional care.
Role Responsibilities:
- Delegate and oversee daily workflow on the floor to ensure efficiency, teamwork, and high standards of care.
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- Coach, train, and mentor team members, fostering professional development and accountability.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state’s Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
- Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Veterinary technician licensure required
- 1-2 years of clinical experience; leadership experience preferred
- An associate or bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
