What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant (Law Firm Experience) position at SourcePro Search?
SourcePro Search is conducting a search for a Staff Accountant with a degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 3 years of general accounting experience. Law firm or public accounting background preferred; CPA a plus. Strong Excel skills are essential, and experience with Elite 3E, Sage Fixed Assets, or Essbase is a bonus.
The ideal candidate will support the general ledger accounting responsibilities for the firm, including the New York head office, as well as the domestic and international branch offices.
What You'll Do:
- Monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely booking of transactions
- Expense variance analysis of actuals versus prior year
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax analyses and filings for the firm and branch offices
- Assist with schedules and analyses for annual firm and pension audits
- Documentation of accounting policies and procedures
- Preparation of journal entries
- Assist with the month end close process
- Assist with annual budget preparation
- Branch office support and coordinating with other departments
- Ad Hoc projects – real estate filings, government surveys, etc.
Additionally, all employees are responsible for maintaining firm and client information. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction, or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.
What You'll Bring:
- B.S. or B.A. Accounting/Finance major required with 3 years of general accounting experience.
- Law firm or public accounting experience preferred. CPA a plus.
- Excellent MS Excel skills required.
- Experience with Elite 3E, Sage Fixed Asset System and Essbase preferred, but not required.
- Good problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Must exhibit attention to detail, professionalism, flexibility and a teamwork approach.
