About the Role
Sourcedesk Global Inc is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Controller to support the finance operations of a growing Canadian organization.
This is a hands-on role that combines accounting, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational support. The successful candidate will work closely with management and various stakeholders to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with Canadian regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) regarding payroll, GST/HST, and other tax matters.
- Support GST/HST and other indirect tax compliance.
- Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, and government agencies.
- Act as the primary on-site accounting and finance representative.
- Gather and communicate operational and financial information to support business reporting and decision-making.
- Support budgeting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Maintain accounting records and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Assist with the implementation and ongoing use of accounting and procurement systems, including QuickBooks Online and E-Requester.
- Support additional finance and administrative projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a Senior Accountant or Controller role.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with GST/HST, payroll support, CRA compliance, and indirect taxes.
- Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online or similar accounting/ERP systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in accounting roles supporting manufacturing, distribution, industrial, logistics, or other operational businesses is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Experience working with procurement and workflow systems such as E-Requester.
Experience coordinating with external auditors, financial institutions, and government agencies.
