Soup or Socks (SOS) Assistant
Status: Full time (35-40 hours per week) Monday through Thursday 9 - 5 and Fridays 8:45 - 1:00, occasional evening or weekend hours.
Job Description:
Summary: The SOS Assistant is part of a three person team who work behind the scenes of the food pantry, clothes closet, and diaper bank. They, along with the volunteers, help complete the daily tasks that ensure we are able to provide services to individuals and families in need of food and/or clothing. The SOS assistant works closely with the director and the pantry associate to ensure daily operation needs are met. This includes but is not limited to, computer based work, inventory management, organizing, date checking donations, assisting volunteers, and shopping for the organization's needs. They may interact with clients, volunteers, and donors on a daily basis.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ensure shelves in the pantry remain stocked at all times. This coordinates with daily/weekly shopping lists.
- Assisting with registration and eligibility determination.
- Assisting in the clothes closet as needed.
- Overseeing Volunteers and Volunteer sign-up
- Training new volunteers.
- Overseeing that all client files are up to date and properly filled out.
- Work with the Director to ensure that social media posts are being done in a timely manner. This includes special events, donations/drives, and other SOS happenings.
- Completing the monthly newsletters.
- Maintain sign-up and inventory for special events.
Qualifications desired:
- High School Diploma—some additional education preferred
- Familiar with Google drive and associated programs and QuickBooks
- Good communication skills
- Motivated and self-directed
- Bilingual skills not required but would be helpful
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and use ladders
- Ability to bend, lift, and carry
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
