SUMMARY
The Applications Engineer serves as a critical link between SoundTech and its customers, delivering innovative solutions that meet and exceed expectations. This role combines technical expertise with strong communication skills to understand customer requirements, develop new products and processes, and ensure efficient design-for-manufacturing practices. By managing prototypes, engineering requests, and technical documentation, the Applications Engineer fosters trust-based relationships and drives SoundTech’s growth and market leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Act as a technical liaison between SoundTech and customers, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project objectives.
· Provide timely updates on project progress, anticipated ship dates, and any technical changes.
· Support the Vice President of Product and Business Development in managing assigned customer accounts, including proactive communication and information gathering to meet project requirements.
· Prepare accurate quotes for new products and business opportunities.
· Participate in the development of new products and processes, as well as improvements to existing capabilities.
· Assist in prototype development and creation of functional designs.
· Operate manufacturing equipment to produce prototypes and sample products based on customer specifications.
· Support daily new part setup processes as needed.
· Manage the Engineering Request Process, including creating drawings, programs, documentation, and performing quality verification.
· Coordinate and maintain CAD drawings and related documentation throughout the product design and bidding process.
· Update working drawings, complete red-line documentation, and communicate design changes to customer teams.
· Serve as a backup for CNC programming of manufacturing equipment.
· Analyze quoted versus actual costs and assist with improvement initiatives where discrepancies occur.
· Conduct research on new products, materials and manufacturing processes, applying findings to current or upcoming projects.
· Stay informed on emerging technologies that could enhance operations; develop and test recommendations, and present business cases supported by cost, quality, and efficiency data.
· Maintain knowledge of supplier processes and capabilities; collaborate with the supply chain team on new product initiatives.
· Represent SoundTech professionally in all interactions.
· Promote a positive culture aligned with SoundTech’s core values in both public and private settings.
· Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations for self and others.
· Safeguard company information by maintaining confidentiality and security.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.
· Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail in technical documentation.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel preferred.
· Ability to create and dimension 2D shapes using AutoCAD.
· Familiarity with CNC programming is preferred.
· Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions accurately.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause identification and resolution.
· Experience in manufacturing operations and building trust-based customer relationships.
