Sound Point Capital Management, a credit-oriented investment manager overseeing approximately $44 billion in total assets, is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Associate to join its Risk & Valuations team.
The candidate will play a role in the valuation, attribution, and validation of portfolio PnL, and the development of robust financial and operational controls. The role will interact across investment, operations, and finance teams and is ideal for candidates with prior experience in complex credit instruments.
Sound Point has a diverse product line which includes CLOs and various funds that invest in stressed and distressed credit, commercial real estate, structured products, consumer loans, and corporate special situations. Based in New York, the firm employs more than 200 talented individuals globally and has grown steadily since inception.
Responsibilities
- Valuation:
- Able to understand booking systems, experience in Operations preferred.
- Product knowledge specific to Leveraged Loans and other Corporate Credit instruments is highly desired.
- PnL Attribution & Analytics:
- Develop and maintain tools for position- and portfolio-level PnL analytics.
- Partner with operations and accounting teams to ensure clean NAV and income flows.
- Controls & Process Enhancement:
- Automate review processes using Python and SQL to improve scalability and reduce error rates.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in asset management, private credit, valuation advisory, or structured credit.
- Strong knowledge in data science and applied uses in finance
- CFA level 2 candidate or above.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and automation.
- Strong Excel and financial modeling capabilities; experience working with large data sets.

Salary : $110,000 - $150,000
