Sound Point Capital Management, a credit-oriented investment manager overseeing approximately $44 billion in total assets, is seeking a credit analyst to help support the growth of its $32 billion U.S. Performing Credit platform. This analyst will help formulate recommendations on new leveraged loan and high yield bond investment opportunities and be responsible for the credit analysis of a specific sector or sectors.
Sound Point has a diverse product line which includes CLOs and various funds that invest in stressed and distressed credit, commercial real estate, structured products, consumer loans, and corporate special situations. Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth fundamental credit analysis of leveraged issuers in both primary and secondary markets
- Develop and maintain financial models, including base, upside, and downside scenarios
- Perform capital structure analysis and evaluate covenant packages
- Participate in due diligence for new investment opportunities, including management calls and third-party reports
- Draft investment memos and present recommendations to the investment committee
- Monitor portfolio positions, track company performance, and update internal risk ratings
- Interface with sales, trading, legal, and risk teams as needed
- Stay up to date on market trends, sector developments, and macroeconomic conditions impacting credit quality
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- CFA or MBA a plus
- 4 years of experience in leveraged finance, credit research, or a related field.
- Strong accounting and financial modeling skills (proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg required)
- Deep understanding of credit documentation, capital structures, and recovery analysis
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including memo writing and presentation delivery
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
