What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freelance Audio Technician & Production Assistant position at Sound Off®?
Sound Off® creates immersive fitness, wellness, conference, and entertainment experiences with silent disco technology for global brands like Formula 1, Lululemon, and Encore.
We are seeking a versatile Audio Technician & Production Assistant who thrives in the heart of the action. This is a dual role where you will alternate between high-level technical audio management and hands-on event production logistics. For the right candidate, this is more than just a gig. It is a career pipeline. We are looking for someone with the technical chops to execute today and the communication skills to grow into sales, partnerships, or production leadership tomorrow.
In lieu of a cover letter please upload a supporting document that in a few sentences lets us know how you would describe a silent disco to someone who has never experienced it before (even if you haven't).
Candidates who do not include this information will not be considered for this role.
The Role:
- Set up and manage our wireless headphone systems, transmitters, and mixers.
- Monitor audio feeds and RF performance throughout live events to ensure a flawless guest experience.
- Stay calm under pressure to resolve technical glitches instantly in fast-paced environments.
- Support guest flow, check-in, and headphone distribution while acting as a friendly face of the Sound Off brand.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, DJs, and venue staff to ensure the run of show stays on track.
- Prep, pack, and quality-check gear for upcoming rentals. Maintain an organized, show-ready warehouse environment.
Who You Are
- You have experience with live audio or wireless systems, but you are also comfortable putting down the headphones to lead a group of guests or talk to a client.
- You are just as happy fine-tuning a mixer as you are coordinating a shipping load-out or managing a guest line.
- You have an interest in the business of events. You do not just want to plug things in; you want to understand how we build partnerships and design custom solutions for our clients.
Requirements:
- Experience in live event production or audio engineering.
- Strong communication skills. You can talk to a CEO or a DJ with equal confidence.
- Ability to lift and move equipment cases up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility for the live event lifestyle including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
The Path to Growth
At Sound Off, we promote from within. Team members who master the technical and production aspects of our business are trained for expanded responsibilities, including:
- Solutions Design and Technical Sales
- Project Management
- Global Partnerships
