Our team-first culture, long-term employee retention, and commitment to innovation make Sound Glass a place where talented people build meaningful careers.POSITION SUMMARYThe Commercial Department Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for Project Managers, Estimators, and commercial support staff. Early in the role, the manager will also maintain a partial workload by estimating and managing select projects to support department operations and ensure a smooth leadership transition.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Lead and develop the commercial department, including Estimators, Project Managers, and support personnel.• Maintain high morale, strong communication, and clear expectations.• Recruit, onboard, and retain top performers.• Improve processes to reduce waste and increase efficiency in the office, shop, and field.• Oversee project financials, forecasting, labor tracking, and department performance metrics.• Support teams through procedural changes and growth phases.• Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and industry partners.• Ensure compliance with union requirements, safety standards, QC, and building/energy codes.• Represent Sound Glass within industry associations.• Estimate and/or manage selected projects as needed.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• 10 years of commercial glazing experience, with significant PM and/or Estimating background.• Experience with public and private sector projects, including federal/military.• Strong technical knowledge of storefront, curtainwall, unitized systems, skylights, automatic doors, hardware, and related scopes.• Ability to track labor production and forecast labor, materials, and equipment.• Understanding of shop/field equipment and installation best practices.• Strong grasp of building envelope requirements and applicable building/energy codes.• Ability to lead teams, implement change, and maintain high morale.• Experience developing department metrics, KPIs, and incentive programs.• Involvement in industry associations.• Strong presentation, communication, and marketing skills.• Field experience or a related degree preferred.PREFERRED PERSONALITY TRAITS:• Excellent written and oral communication.• High ethical standards.• Strong problem-solving ability and professional demeanor.• Collaborative mindset with company leadership and peers.• Self-driven, organized, and committed to continuous improvement.• Creative thinker who identifies opportunities and implements solutions.COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:• Competitive salary• Bonus potential tied to department performance• Medical, dental, and vision insurance• 401(k) with company match• Paid time off and holidays• Supportive, high-performance team environmentWHY JOIN SOUND GLASS?You’ll lead a respected and growing department within one of the region’s most trusted glazing contractors.
