Medical Assistant Lead

Position Summary:
The MA-Lead will lead by assisting with maintaining daily operations under the direction of the clinic manager. These individuals can perform, train, and provide coverage for all clinical positions. This position will work closely with all departments within Sound Family Medicine (i.e., lab, PSC, billing, etc.), which requires the individual to be adaptable, communicative, and professional.
Essential Functions:

- Provide direction, guidance, and support to the team.
- Includes Pod support and potential provider coverage dependent on staffing.
- Monitor team performance and report on metrics.
- Relay and coordinate staffing changes/coverage (i.e., lunch/breaks).
- Provide front line support for clinical staff, including but not limited to monitoring overall environment and conditions.
- Anticipate and coordinate clinical interruptions that may negatively impact patient care or staff/provider morale.
- Ability to expertly perform and teach all clinical tasks (i.e., vitals, rooming, injections, etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of routine and non-routine clinical procedures (i.e., PA, specialty meds, etc.).
- Assist the clinical trainer with staff training and education.
- Assist with safety concerns and reporting.
- Verify completion of all Compliance/Safety checklists (i.e., Clinical preparedness/opening and closing, etc.).
- Assist when manager is out of office with troubleshooting and escalating any clinic concerns to the covering clinic manager. Patient care takes precedent overall job duties listed above in the event of staffing shortage. Examples may include but not limited to:
- Lead morning huddles and relay urgent information, as needed, to clinical staff.
- Purchasing and inventory management tasks
- Monitor supply viability.
- Vaccine reporting, ordering, and auditing (i.e., VFC management).

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, this position will oversee the Medical Assistants by providing direction and guidance, monitoring performance, directing workflow, maintaining and coordinating schedules, and providing feedback on performance reviews.
Work Environment:
This position will work in an office environment with a moderate noise level. This role will interact with patients, coworkers, venders, and the public. This role will use standard office and medical equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, ekg machines, blood pressure cuffs, autoclave, and more. Must be able to communicate in fluently in English when writing and speaking.

This position is primarily an active role; however, this position needs to file, communicate over the phone and in-person, and use standard office equipment. This position may be required to lift up to 15-20 pounds.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- State of Washington Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C)
- One year experience working as a Medical Assistant: Required
- CPR and/or BLS Certification
Health Requirements:
- Documentation of Hep B vaccination or proof of immunity (titer).
- Documentation of negative TB test.
- PPD skin test or QuantiFERON test completed within the last calendar year.
- Documentation of MMR or immunity status.
- Documentation of Varicella vaccine or immunity status.
- Documentation of TDaP vaccine within the last 10 years.
- Documentation of influenza for the current year.
- COVID-19 vaccinations
