Advanced VP / Principal - Lower Middle Market Private Equity Firm
About the Firm
This Advanced VP / Principal role sits on the deal team of an actively growing independent sponsor transitioning to its first institutional fund. As the second-most-senior investment professional, you will lead deal execution across the buy and sell sides and own transactions from inception to completion.
Beyond execution, you will be an impactful builder: driving portfolio company value creation, helping set the standard for the firm’s growing team, and representing the firm in the market. This is a growth hire with a genuine, performance-based path and fast growth to Managing Director.
The ideal candidate is a plug-and-play operator with deep lower middle market reps who thrives in an entrepreneurial, build-it-from-the-ground-up environment and wants meaningful ownership of outcomes and economics.
Key Responsibilities
Deal Execution
- Lead platform and add-on transactions on the buy and sell sides, owning all aspects of the deal from start to finish.
- Drive financial analysis, modeling, structuring, and investment thesis development.
- Manage diligence workstreams and third-party advisors through to close.
Portfolio & Firm Support
- Partner with management on portfolio company optimization — strategy, financial analysis, operational improvement, and performance monitoring.
- Lead and mentor junior investment staff, helping establish the firm’s in-office working culture.
- Represent the firm with industry, trade, and professional organizations to enhance visibility for the firm and its portfolio companies.
Professional Experience & Qualifications
- 6 years in private equity or investment banking, with a focus on lower middle market or middle market buyout, sell-side, or buy-side investing.
- Demonstrated strength executing transactions with multiple reps overseeing deals from inception to completion.
- Operational, buy-and-build mindset — comfortable adding value beyond the model.
- Genuine lower middle market fluency; experience with founder- and family-owned businesses strongly preferred.
- Self-directed builder who can operate without heavy infrastructure and set a high standard for others.
- Willing and able to be on-site in Miami, FL.
