About the Role
The Business Development professional will play a key role in driving investment origination and relationship management efforts for a middle-market Private Equity firm. This position will partner closely with senior leadership to source proprietary investment opportunities, deepen intermediary relationships, and enhance the firm’s market visibility. The ideal candidate is a diligent, highly motivated brand ambassador who combines strong relationship skills with analytical and operational rigor.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the firm’s business development function, building out a robust deal pipeline to drive long-term growth and success.
- Spearhead proprietary deal sourcing strategy, including oversight of investment themes, market research and mapping, and target identification.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries, deal sources, and other market participants through ongoing outreach, meetings, conferences and networking events.
- Oversee the firm’s CRM and sourcing analytics, ensuring data integrity, activity tracking, and actionable reporting for firm leadership.
- Evaluate and qualify inbound and outbound investment opportunities based on the firm’s investment criteria.
- Manage the firm’s pipeline of opportunities for both platform and add-on investments, ensuring timely coordination with deal teams.
- Partner closely with the firm’s senior leadership to align deal origination strategy with overall firm priorities.
- Prepare and deliver sourcing performance reports, pipeline summaries, and quarterly BD updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead marketing and business development initiatives, including outreach campaigns, conference engagement, and production of materials that articulate the firm’s value proposition.
- Identify and implement new technology and data solutions, including AI and sourcing platforms, to enhance the efficiency and quality of origination efforts.
Professional Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ideal candidate has experience in banking, private equity, asset/investment management, financial services, client services, or professional services sales.
- Proven ability to originate, manage, and qualify investment opportunities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with CRM and data management systems. Experience with M&A data platforms (e.g., PitchBook, SourceScrub, Grata, CapIQ) is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with comfort engaging senior executives and intermediaries.
- Analytical mindset with experience leveraging technology and data to drive business decisions.
Salary
Target range of $200k-$250k all in (base bonus)
