Senior Frontend Software Engineer - Early-Stage Startup

Sotto is an AI-powered SMS marketing platform that turns generic brand communications into contextually-aware, intelligent conversations. Our messaging adapts to customer behavior in real-time. We're a small, experienced team that is VC-backed and pre-Series A.

As our Senior Frontend Software Engineer, you'll own and evolve our frontend architecture and technical direction, taking our existing platform to the next level. You will work directly with the CTO and 3 backend engineers building the interfaces that brands use to monitor and manage millions of customer conversations in real-time.

Responsibilities include:

• Own the existing Next.js/React/TypeScript codebase and set frontend technical direction
• Build AI workflow automation interfaces and real-time monitoring dashboards
• Develop and evolve the design system and component library
• Optimize UI performance for high-frequency data updates and low-latency interactions

Required:

• 5 years of frontend development with strong React and TypeScript experience
• Next.js expertise: API routes and client-side rendering patterns
• Real-time UI experience: WebSockets, state management for live data, handling high-frequency updates
• Responsive design mastery: Building pixel-perfect interfaces across desktop, tablet, and mobile
• Performance optimization: Understanding of React optimization and rendering performance
• Design system thinking: Experience building and maintaining component libraries and design systems

Bonus Points:

• Full-stack interest and experience (you'll work closely with our backend team)
• Real-time data visualization and dashboard experience
• Modern CSS frameworks (Tailwind styled-components)
• Testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright)
• Previous startup experience as a sole or lead frontend developer

• Work style: In-office 3 days/week, flexible remote days
• Compensation: $145K-165K base equity
• Stage: VC backed, Pre-Series A
