THE ROLE
Storytelling and sharing our expertise is at the heart of the Sotheby's brand. As the product manager for editorial content and catalogs, you will be responsible for planning, defining, and producing breathtaking, immersive, exciting, and innovative experiences that showcase our art, objects, and expertise. You will partner with the editorial team, business leaders, and specialist departments to set goals for our content, and build out functionality and features to support those. You will work closely with designers - both in-house and from agencies - to push the envelope on content presentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Building out strategy, vision, and roadmap for continuous improvement and innovation in presenting editorial content and catalogs online.
- Proactively researching new technologies, presentation formats and solutions to showcase our expertise and works of art.
- Working with web development agencies on building out Statements of Work, requirements, plans, and deliverables.
- Working with key business stakeholders and other product leaders to set overarching goals for product focus.
- Working in a cross functional product team with design, engineering, QA, and program management to map out requirements and deliver software in incremental blocks of value to end users.
- Prioritising work and managing requests. This includes saying no to requests, to maintain good and candid relationships with stakeholders.
- Engaging in user research and interviews, uses data to drive decisions and prioritise work.
- Using a combination of behavioral data user research to make informed decisions
- Influences key stakeholders across product & technology and Sotheby's overall to drive prioritisation and investments.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- 3 years experience working as a product manager in a digital or information technology environment.
- 2 years experience with consumer facing products
- Successful track record of working closely with designers, engineers, and other product managers in a collaborative environment.
- Experience working in eCommerce, Lifestyle, Luxury or Arts is a plus
- Experience working on mobile applications is a plus
- Understanding of basic web technologies and API fundamentals. You are not necessarily a coder but you know what piece does what.
- Experience working with Content Management Systems.
- Highly organized, collaborative and adaptive, with the ability to work calmly and professionally under pressured, time sensitive deadlines.
- Excellent written and communication skills are essential as are a logical and creative approach to problem solving and attention to detail.
- Passionate about the ways that digital media will continue to revolutionize information distribution and interaction in the arts, media and luxury-related sphere.
- Experience with cross-platform digital projects.
- Experience with wireframe development and strong knowledge on the tools to create wireframes
- Hands on knowledge of Requirements Analysis and Documentation
- Experience with behavioral analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, etc) and user research
