Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide expert counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and co-occurring conditions. Your expertise will help clients achieve lasting recovery, improve their mental well-being, and regain control of their lives. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive treatment plans, conduct assessments, and facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough clinical assessments, including diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems, to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and applied behavior analysis.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute mental health or substance use crises, ensuring safety and stabilization.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and patient records.
  • Facilitate intake procedures for new clients by collecting comprehensive patient histories, conducting assessments, and coordinating case management services.
  • Engage in ongoing data collection for research purposes and quality improvement initiatives related to behavioral health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals to coordinate care for clients with complex needs such as PTSD care or hospital-based treatment.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively through crisis management protocols while providing compassionate support during difficult moments.
  • Stay current on medical terminology relevant to addiction medicine and mental health counseling to ensure precise communication within interdisciplinary teams.

Experience

  • Experience with SAPTA/BHCEN a MUST
  • Proven experience in psychotherapy, mental health counseling, or addiction counseling within clinical or community settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in crisis intervention, crisis management, and behavior management techniques.
  • Familiarity with home & community care environments as well as hospital settings is highly desirable.
  • Strong background in working with diverse populations including children & families, individuals with PTSD or trauma histories, and those requiring behavioral health support.
  • Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical records documentation standards.
  • Experience in conducting diagnostic evaluations using standardized tools; familiarity with research methodologies is a plus.
