After fifteen years in business, SNA has established Sortimo as a premium brand for van upfits and organization in the US market having equipped many well-known fleets. Sortimo North American searching for a self-motivated Machinist. This person will be a skilled professional responsible for operating, maintaining, and programming machinery to produce precision parts and tools. This person will work with various materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and composites, and use technical drawings, blueprints, and computer-aided design (CAD) software to create components that meet exact specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure proper functioning and quality output.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining processes.
- Measure, cut, shape, and finish materials to create parts that meet exact specifications.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure accuracy.
- Program CNC machines using G-code or other programming languages.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machinery or production processes.
- Inspect finished products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Make adjustments to machines or processes as needed to maintain accuracy.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and repair mechanical issues with equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to workplace safety regulations.
- Requires a combination of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma with 10 plus years’ experience working in a machining and manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machines.
- Strong understanding of machining techniques and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and machine programming.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools and equipment.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic math and geometry skills for calculations and measurements.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for handling machinery and materials.
- Certifications in CNC programming or machining (optional but beneficial).
