As a Forklift Operator / Lift Truck Driver at Sort & Stack, you will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of powered lift equipment to move, load, unload and stack materials within the facility. You will help ensure smooth workflows in sorting, stacking, staging and shipping of materials, supporting the facility’s production and recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate sit‑down or stand‑up forklift, pallet jack or other lift truck equipment to move materials (incoming, sorted, finished) to staging, storage or shipping areas.
Load and unload trucks/trailers, transfer pallets, stack loads safely and in compliance with facility stacking protocols and customer specifications.
Assist in staging and organizing sorted materials/pallets in the warehouse or production floor for subsequent processes.
Inspect forklift equipment pre‑shift, report any mechanical or safety issues to maintenance or supervisor; adhere to equipment safety checklists.
Ensure materials are handled carefully to avoid damage and that loads are stacked safely, evenly and within height/weight limits.
Maintain good housekeeping around forklift work areas: clear aisles, remove obstacles, ensure proper signage and comply with facility safety rules.
Work closely with supervisors, line associates, sorters and shipping personnel to coordinate movement of materials and meet turnaround or processing targets.
Follow all safety procedures including PPE (steel‑toe boots, gloves, hearing/eye protection as required), lock‑out/tag‑out if applicable, and safe forklift operation protocols.
Meet productivity goals such as pallets moved per shift, accuracy of loads staged, minimal damage or rework of materials.
Qualifications & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification; previous experience operating forklifts in warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
Good physical stamina: ability to stand, walk, lift/handle materials (pallets, boxes) when required and work in a fast‑paced industrial facility.
Good spatial awareness, hand‑eye coordination, ability to position loads accurately and maneuver a lift truck safely in narrow aisles or around equipment.
Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality and ability to work as part of a team in an on‑site industrial environment.
Communication skills sufficient to coordinate load movements with the team and report issues or delays to supervisor.
Comfortable working onsite in an industrial warehouse/facility setting (noise, equipment, variable temperatures) and adherence to safety rules.
