What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation / Floor Support Technician position at Sort and Stack LLC?
The Sanitation / Floor Support Technician will ensure the facility’s production floors, sorting and stacking areas are clean, safe, organized and running efficiently. This role supports all on‑site operations by maintaining proper housekeeping, cleaning equipment/areas, assisting with material moves or changeovers, and ensuring a safe work environment for production crews.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize production, sorting and stacking areas: remove debris, spilled materials, dust, glass fragments, stray pallets and waste.
Maintain floors, aisles, workstations, staging areas and dock zones; keep areas free of hazards, clear of obstructions and ready for production use.
Assist with changeovers or line clean‑up when production shifts change, including clearing conveyors, stacking zones, sorting equipment staging.
Support material handling for floor crews: move pallets, carts, containers of sorted/recycled materials, using hand trucks or pallet jacks as needed.
Ensure proper disposal or recycling of waste, rejected materials, scrap and other by‑products consistent with the company’s zero‑waste goals.
Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, power‑washing (if applicable), emptying recycling/waste bins, cleaning equipment surfaces and machine guards.
Monitor facility lighting, signage, safety mats, floor markings and flag any maintenance or safety issues (e.g., damaged floor, spillage, uneven surfaces) to supervisor.
Assist in maintenance of sanitation supplies inventory: cleaning chemicals, rags, brooms, power‑wash equipment, PPE for floor support, and request replenishment when needed.
Help support safety initiatives: ensure use of required PPE (steel‑toe boots, gloves, eye protection), maintain clear egress paths, support housekeeping audits and visual safety standards.
Work collaboratively with production, sorting, stacking and maintenance teams to support efficient workflow and minimize downtime due to cleanliness or material handling blocks.
Education/Experience
Qualifications & Skills
High School Diploma Or Equivalent Preferred But Not Required.
Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, recycling or production facility environment is a plus.
Familiarity with industrial cleaning or sanitation in a production setting is beneficial.
Skills & Attributes
Strong work ethic with willingness to perform physical tasks: standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50–60 lbs, pushing/pulling carts or material loads.
Ability to follow instructions, maintain a safe work environment and stay alert to hazards.
Good communication and teamwork: able to coordinate with production crews, maintenance, supervisors.
Basic mechanical aptitude for using cleaning equipment, pallet jacks or other floor support tools.
