What are the responsibilities and job description for the Real Estate Asset Manager position at SOPHIA CRE - Commercial Real Estate Operating System?
Company Description SOPHIA CRE is an AI-native operational infrastructure platform designed for commercial real estate (CRE) firms, focused on turning fragmented execution into predictable net operating income (NOI) growth. The company provides integrated tools and data-driven workflows that help asset management teams standardize processes and improve portfolio performance. By leveraging advanced analytics and automation, SOPHIA CRE supports more informed decisions across leasing, operations, and capital planning. The environment is highly collaborative and technology-forward, offering real estate professionals the chance to work at the intersection of CRE and AI innovation.
The primary job is to act as a subject matter expert — a seasoned commercial real estate asset manager — who designs the nuanced workflows SOPHIA CRE builds for each client.
That means active listening, deep functional judgment, and the flexibility to describe and advocate the client’s standard operating procedures to the SOPHIA CRE technical team so customized workflows and AI Co-Workers match how that client actually runs assets. You are the translator between client practice and product configuration, not the person who manages the client’s portfolio.
What you’ll actually do
- Sit with client asset management, property management, and leasing teams and learn how they really work (not the slide version).
- Turn those SOPs into clear workflow designs: steps, exceptions, decision rights, data inputs, and what “good” looks like for NOI, leasing, operations, and capital planning.
- Advocate the client’s operating reality to SOPHIA’s technical team so configuration is specific to that client, not a generic template.
- Review configured workflows and AI Co-Workers against real asset-management practice and flag where nuance is missing.
- Help clients adopt the result: training handoff, usage quality, and feedback loops when their process changes.
- Use your own AM background (performance, budgets, business plans, leasing and expense levers, acquisitions/dispositions diligence, risk and compliance) so designs stay operationally true.
What this is not
- Not running a third-party portfolio, presenting investor recommendations, or owning a client’s assets.
- Not writing code or setting product architecture (that stays with the technical team).
- Not primary go-to-market or client sourcing.
Qualifications
- Seasoned commercial real estate asset management experience, with real judgment on how assets are run day to day. Office, industrial, retail, or mixed-use exposure is a plus.
- Strong investments and finance fluency: budgets, forecasts, business plans, underwriting assumptions, and due diligence on performance, leases, and markets.
- Proven ability to listen, extract an SOP from messy practice, and explain it clearly to technical builders who do not live in CRE.
- Comfort working with technology platforms and AI-driven tools as the domain expert, not as the engineer.
- Organized enough to run multiple client workflow designs at once.
- Bachelor’s in finance, real estate, business, economics, or a related field preferred; CRE or investments credentials a plus.
