What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pilates Instructor position at SOOP Pilates?
About SOOP Pilates
SOOP Pilates is a boutique Pilates studio built on a simple idea: small classes, big results. We keep our classes intentionally small, our space calm and uncluttered, and our teaching focused on real progress over trends. Our clients come to move well, feel stronger, and be genuinely seen — not to get lost in a crowded room. We're a young, growing studio looking for an experienced instructor who shares that philosophy and wants to grow with us.
Job Overview
We're hiring a Pilates Instructor to teach small-group Pilates classes and private sessions (solo and duet). You'll work in an intimate single-room studio where attention to each client is the whole point.
This is an hourly role, with additional earning opportunities tied to bringing in new clients and keeping them coming back — so instructors who build strong relationships and a loyal following have room to earn more.
Responsibilities
- Lead group Pilates classes that cater to various skill levels, ensuring safe and effective exercise techniques
- Teach private sessions (solo and duet) tailored to each client's goals and level
- Develop innovative class programs incorporating principles of physiology, anatomy, and body mechanics to maximize results
- Provide personalized guidance and modifications tailored to individual needs and fitness levels
- Foster a motivating and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participant engagement and retention
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped studio environment in compliance with health and safety standards
- Promote upcoming classes, workshops, and fitness programs to increase participation and membership sales
- Stay current with industry trends in Pilates, group fitness, yoga, CrossFit, cycling, dancing, sports coaching, and health club practices to continually enhance class offerings
Qualifications
- Pilates teaching experience across a range of formats and equipment
- A strong, client-first teaching presence — clear cues, real attention, and the ability to make every level feel supported
- Solid grasp of anatomy, alignment, and how to modify for mixed-level classes
- Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
- A warm, genuine personality that fits our calm, unhurried studio culture
- Pilates certification (we'll talk through your training and background at the interview)
Nice to have
- Experience teaching duet or private sessions
- A knack for helping beginners feel confident and stick with their practice
- Availability across a mix of weekday, evening, and weekend slots
Compensation
- $20-$55 hourly base pay, commensurate with experience
- Additional incentive opportunities for bringing in new clients and retaining existing ones
- Opportunity to grow hours and earnings as the studio expands
Schedule
- Part-time, flexible scheduling built around class and private-session demand
- We'll work with you to build a consistent weekly schedule that fits your availability
