We’re hiring a Medical Assistant to support primary care and mental health services in a correctional healthcare setting. This role includes patient care, clinical support, documentation, and assisting providers during daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and nursing staff
- Collect and record vital signs and patient observations
- Prepare patients for exams, treatments, and mental health evaluations
- Escort patients to appointments while maintaining safety protocols
- Administer medications/treatments within scope
- Document clinical and behavioral symptoms accurately
- Support therapeutic interventions and provide basic comfort care
- Ensure exam rooms and supplies are organized and ready
- Report unusual behavior or safety concerns immediately
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Certification (California-approved program)
- BLS (AHA)
- Minimum 12 months recent MA experience (internships not accepted)
- Strong communication, observation, and patient care skills
- Ability to work safely in a secure environment
