Psychiatric Technician (LPT) – Correctional Facility
San Luis Obispo, CA
Contract Duration: 18 months
Schedules Available:
- Wed–Sun | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Thurs–Mon | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) to provide behavioral and psychiatric nursing care within a correctional facility. This role involves supporting mentally ill or developmentally disabled patients/youth in a structured and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic psychiatric and behavioral nursing care
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patient conditions
- Administer medications and treatments (including injections) under supervision
- Record vital signs and maintain accurate documentation
- Assist with treatment planning and therapy sessions
- Coordinate with custody and healthcare teams
- Observe and report changes in patient behavior and condition
- Respond to emergencies, including CPR and first aid
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Psychiatric Technician (required)
- Active California LPT License (required)
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required)
