Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team in a correctional facility. The candidate will provide high-quality patient care, conduct assessments, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and healthcare professionals across acute care, outpatient, and emergency settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations and medical history intake.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations and interpret results to guide treatment decisions.
- Manage acute pain management strategies for patients across various settings.
- Provide triage services in emergency situations, ensuring timely care delivery.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care effectively.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
- Participate in clinical research and trials to enhance patient outcomes.
- Educate patients on health management, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
Skills
- Proficient in using EMR systems for data management and patient records.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Experience in critical care settings with skills in airway management and ventilator support.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and documentation.
- Ability to perform suturing, phlebotomy, and other procedural skills as needed.
- Knowledge of hospice & palliative medicine principles for end-of-life care.
- Experience with telehealth platforms for remote patient consultations.
- Understanding of infection control practices to ensure patient safety.
- Competence in conducting health coaching sessions to promote wellness.
