About us
SONOCO is a leading offshore catering company in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Our facilities are based in
Houma, LA, but our operations reach from Texas to Alabama.
The position is for a driver to take our crews from our Houma facility to their crew change locations. These trips range from Mobile, Alabama to Galveston, Texas currently, but will change sometimes.
Details of the Position:
- The successful candidate will have a Louisiana Class D Chauffer's License.
- A clean driving record for at least the past 3 years.
- No history of DUI / DWI or any other significant driving issues.
- A TWIC card (Transportation Worker's Identification Credential)
- Is available 7 days a week
- Is willing to work at odd hours. Many of our crew changes call for early arrival (for example 5:00
AM) and you will frequently be picking up people as early as 2:00 AM.
- We also have Louis Armstrong airport pickup and drop off trips, and they are sometimes on the weekends.
- You will drive your vehicle to our facility, then use a SONOCO van to drive the crew(s) to their location(s):
- You must be willing to wait to pick up incoming crews (you are paid for waiting time at your regular rate of pay).
- You should understand that the hours per week vary. One week may only be 36 hours, and the next as many as 50. Flexibility is key.
- You must be able to pass a medical examination (we pay for it and our doctor performs it).
- Drug tests are given before hire and periodically at random after hire.
