Duties
- Perform high-quality echocardiograms and cardiac ultrasound procedures using state-of-the-art sonography equipment to visualize heart structures and blood flow.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and monitoring vital signs throughout the exam.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety during all procedures.
- Assist with interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization procedures by providing real-time imaging support as needed.
- Analyze images for clarity and accuracy, ensuring diagnostic quality before submitting for physician review.
- Document all procedures thoroughly, including patient information, technical details, and observations related to physiology and anatomy.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate diagnostic evaluations within the cath lab, telemetry units, or emergency settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers.
- Stay current with advancements in sonography, interventional cardiology, and emergency medicine protocols to enhance technical skills and patient care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience performing echocardiography or cardiac ultrasound procedures in a clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques related to cardiology.
- Familiarity with interventional radiology procedures, cardiac catheterization, and the operation of cath labs.
- Experience working within telemetry units or emergency medicine environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Proficiency in vital signs monitoring and maintaining aseptic technique during invasive procedures.
- Ability to interpret diagnostic images accurately and communicate findings effectively to physicians.
- Certification as an Echocardiography Technician (e.g., RDCS or RCS) is highly preferred; additional certifications in sonography or interventional cardiology are advantageous.
