Starting at $15.50/hour- salary will be determined based on experience and CPR & First Aid Certification (Infant/Child/Adult)**
Early Education Teacher Assistant

As a teacher assistant you will be an integral part of each child’s education journey and will help motivate them towards success here at SONshine School!
Responsibilities
- Maintain classroom safety at all times
- Close observation of students while on the playground
- Design and follow lesson plans and age-appropriate activities
- Provide basic hygiene needs for children (changing diapers/pullups, wiping faces/noses, washing hands, etc.)
- Include a variety of tools to create engaging lessons and learning opportunities (books, technology, fine and gross motor skills, and more).
- Evaluate each child’s performance to make ensure they are on the track to success.
- Remain in open communication with parents and update them on the progress of their child(ren)
- Promote comradery among students
- Identify behavioral challenges and discuss plan moving forward with director and parents
- Collaborate with colleagues
- Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by SONshine School and DCF
Skills
- Certified in First Aid and CPR
- Experience as a child care/daycare teacher or assistant teacher (plus)
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Knowledge of child development
- Takes initiative in classroom management, lesson planning, and maintaining a safe and clean learning environment.
- Creative
- Maintains an attitude of patience, flexibility and love for all children
- Demonstrates problem solving skills
