Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression for everyone entering the office
- Schedule appointments accurately using medical office software, coordinating with providers to optimize daily workflows
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits through managed care systems to ensure smooth billing processes
- Maintain and update medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality at all times
- Assist with insurance verification, including checking patient eligibility and coverage details for various plans
- Facilitate referral coordination by communicating effectively with specialists, labs, and other healthcare providers
- Utilize medical terminology, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to accurately document procedures and diagnoses
- Support office operations by managing incoming calls, inquiries, and scheduling changes promptly and professionally
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is required
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification, and medical billing procedures
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/10 codes
- Experience with office software systems used in healthcare settings for scheduling and record keeping
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
