Founded in 1855 during California’s Gold Rush, Sonora Elementary School has always been at the heart of our community. Our current campus was built in 1974 and neighbors the Tuolumne County Library. Sonora is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills within driving distance of Yosemite National Park. Substitute works as needed: Under general supervision, to keep assigned rooms, buildings, office space and school grounds clean and orderly. Perform minor repairs as required. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS TRAINING/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS 1. Current California Driver’s License. 2. Knowledge of common tools and their uses. 3. Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and equipment used in custodial and grounds work. 4. Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. 5. Current 1st Aide and CPR Certificates preferred but not required. PHYSICAL TRAITS 1. Good health 2. Normal vision and hearing 3. Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects not to exceed 50 pounds. 4. Ability to stand, stoop, reach, bend and work from a ladder. 5. Ability to work in changing weather conditions for extended periods of time. PERSONAL TRAITS 1. Is punctual and demonstrates good attendance. 2. Is dedicated, enthusiastic, patient, understanding and has a genuine interest in children. 3. Ability to serve as a role model through appearance, attitude and proper use of language. 4. Ability to follow and give clear instructions. 5. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 6. Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and good judgment in dealing with people. 7. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students and adults. 8. Ability to provide necessary physical care and emotional support to students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Performs tasks related to custodial, maintenance, or grounds upkeep. 2. Loads, unloads, lefts and moves heavy materials, supplies and equipment. 3. Cleans all chalk and dry erase boards, sweeps or vacuums, dusts classrooms, offices and assigned areas as scheduled. 4. Washes, scrubs and disinfects rest rooms and cleans all fixtures and drinking fountains in assigned areas. 5. Waxes floors, shampoos carpet
