What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Support Technician (Per Diem) position at Sonoma Valley Hospital?
Provides support for routine surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of operating room equipment and anesthesia delivery equipment before, during, and after anesthesia. The Surgical Services Technician assists nurses and anesthesiologists in their work related to anesthesia delivery to patients.
Responsibilities
Daily room set up for surgery scheduled cases for the day. Restocks anesthesia carts and anesthesia machines. Verifies daily leak testing on anesthesia machines has been completed. Monitors and changes out as needed cylinder gases on back of anesthesia machine and understands safe handling, use and storage of cylinder gases.
Stocks anesthesia equipment room. Orders supplies from Surgery Buyer as approved by department Director. Responsible for monthly cart checks for PAR levels and outdates as assigned by Perioperative Clinical Coordinator.
Records and maintains daily humidity and temperature logs for all areas of surgery as required per policy. Responsible for sending log information to Engineering department on a monthly basis.
Performs other tasks as assigned by Surgery Clinical Coordinator to assist with surgery workflow. Restocks medications and medication trays as needed.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience: 1 year of related experience in an acute healthcare setting
Licenses & Certifications: BLS
Required Skills & Knowledge: Basic understanding of purpose, use and care of physiological monitors relating to the administration of anesthesia. Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with all members of surgery team including anesthesiologist. Good organization skills, must be comfortable multi-tasking and at following directions.

Actual compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
