Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like OpenDental and Dexis, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Monitor vital signs and medical imaging as needed for patient assessments.
- Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and adhere to strict infection control standards to ensure patient safety.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and handling medical coding when necessary.
- Assist with the operation of advanced equipment including 3D scanners and other digital imaging tools.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, medical coding, and medical records management.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and team members.
