About Sonic Boom Football

Launching in 2026, Sonic Boom Football is a comprehensive football training program with year-long practice and competition schedule. Open to boys and girls age 7-14. Focused on developing the whole athlete – physically, mentally, emotionally, technically. Built on core values of teamwork, competition and respect.

Sonic Boom offers two competitve seasons: Spring (Feb-July) and Fall (Sep-Dec). We are looking for experienced football coaches/trainers to lead our various age-group teams.

Role Overview

The Head Coach is responsible for leading a Sonic Boom flag football team throughout the season, delivering high-quality coaching, teaching fundamental skills, managing practices and games, and upholding the culture and standards of the organization. This role is ideal for someone who loves football, enjoys working with kids, and takes pride in mentorship and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Player Development & Coaching

  • Teach age-appropriate football fundamentals, concepts, and positional skills
  • Build structured practice plans aligned with Sonic Boom curriculum
  • Provide positive, constructive, and individualized feedback
  • Foster growth mindset, effort, resilience, and coachability

Team Leadership

  • Set expectations for behavior, sportsmanship, and teamwork
  • Manage playing rotations fairly and appropriately
  • Encourage inclusive team culture where all players feel valued
  • Model composure, positivity, and respect at all times

Game Management

  • Lead team through league or tournament play
  • Teach situational awareness and strategy
  • Represent Sonic Boom professionally with opposing teams and officials

Communication

  • Maintain clear, timely communication with parents and players
  • Coordinate schedules, updates, and expectations
  • Report player or behavioral issues to program leadership when needed

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure safe learning environment
  • Enforce injury awareness and return-to-play guidelines
  • Uphold background check and child-safety protocols

Qualifications

Required:

✅ Experience coaching, teaching, or leading youth athletes
✅ Strong communication and leadership skills
✅ Organized, reliable, and punctual
✅ Positive role model with high character
✅ Commitment to Sonic Boom values

Preferred:

⭐ Former high school or college football playing experience
⭐ Prior coaching experience (flag, tackle, or other sports)
⭐ Understanding of player development principles
⭐ Ability to manage groups of 10–12 athletes

Time Commitment

  • Seasonal role (Spring and Fall options)
  • Practices (1x per week during season - 90 min each)
  • Weekend Tournaments - 6 during Spring and 4 during Fall
  • Occasional coach meetings or training modules
