Assistant Manager Job Description:
Our proactive Assistant Bar Manager must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. No two days are the same, and the role involves supporting the General Manager in promoting and growing the business. The Assistant Manager will help lead and motivate the team, manage labor and inventory costs, and ensure high standards of customer satisfaction. Additional duties include supporting promotional events, assisting in maintaining quality and safety, and helping with scheduling. A key part of this role is working with diverse personalities and diffusing tense situations when necessary. Our ideal Assistant Bar Manager is observant, able to think critically, and is a skilled communicator with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Assistant Manager Responsibilities:
Support daily operating routines to ensure bar cleanliness, including ensuring inventory is stocked and visually appealing.
Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training staff, and coach and discipline employees as needed.
Help prepare and submit reports by requested deadlines.
Ensure team stays in compliance with current legislation.
Monitor cash over/shorts and assist with managing inventory reductions.
Promptly document employee or customer issues and inform the General Manager or necessary departments.
Assist with scheduling and ensuring business objectives are met.
Help manage labor costs and improve efficiency.
Assistant Manager Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
1-2 years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a bar or similar environment.
Basic understanding of business management and accounting principles.
Strong computer, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to resolve conflicts and diffuse tense situations effectively.
Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to assist with delegating responsibilities and maximizing team resources.
Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced environment.
