COMPENSATION: The base pay for this position is $17.50 per hour.
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Material Handler is to efficiently manage the receipt, inspection, preparation, and delivery of raw materials and supplies to support cutting and printing operations. This role ensures materials are accurately staged, properly stored, and transported safely to maintain continuous production flow while adhering to quality standards, safety protocols, and inventory controls. The position reports to and performs work under the general direction of the Cutting Manager and may receive guidance from the Cutting Machine Operators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Unload, inspect, verify, and sort incoming raw materials for quality and accuracy against purchase orders, removing defects and organizing materials in designated areas to maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Operate the aerator to prep loads and use forklift as needed to retrieve printing supplies from storage
- Stage and load materials ensuring correct size, type, and quantity for continuous workflow.
- Assemble stripping boards after cutting on the Gerber, handle cork dies, and relieve the pre-make ready person and baler operator as needed.
- Band make-ready materials for stock and loads for outside processing, completing necessary paperwork.
- Safely transport materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or carts, while tracking and maintaining accurate inventory levels and records of material usage and movements.
- Communicate with operators, supervisors, and other departments to ensure timely delivery and smooth production flow.
- Assist with routine cleaning, minor maintenance of equipment and cutting machines, and collect and dispose of scrap and waste materials following recycling and disposal policies.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance; must be able to work overtime when required.
- Perform all work in accordance with company policies, procedures, practices, values, and standards of conduct.
- Follow safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to communicate effectively, and discern warning or emergency alarms, including forklift horns.
- Sufficient vision to review and read documents, reports, and other job-related information, and observe signage in the plant
- Sufficient manual dexterity to perform repetitive motions in fingering and hand/wrist/arm movements.
- Ability to frequently push/pull up to 75 lbs.; occasionally push/pull up to 100 lbs. and carry 50 lbs.; work is performed between floor and shoulder height.
- Ability to stand continuously for at least one-hour during shift and stand for up to 6 cumulative hours during shift.
- Ability to walk up to 4 cumulative hours for shift duration.
- Sufficient body flexibility and balance which require repeated bending, twisting, and squatting motions; ability to bend and twist at the head, neck and waist.
- Ability to occasionally climbs stairs upon entering/leaving the facility
- Sufficient attention to concentrate and complete tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Typical working conditions are exposed to moderate noise but at times may be exposed to loud and excessive noise
- Production areas of the facility may include variations in temperature, humidity, dust or dirt, and debris.
- Operation of hand tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other support equipment may be used.
QUALIFICATIONS
SKILL AND ABILITY TO:
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operational procedures and instructions, and policies.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Safely operate pallet jacks and Automatan aerator machines.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Verbally communicate to clearly convey information and feedback to team members and supervisors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 6 months job related experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
- Forklift operation experience strongly preferred.
