What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Manager, Finance position at Somos Internet?
Location: Remote/Hybrid (Miami, NYC, or SF preferred)
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
About SomosWe are building the digital rails for Latin America.
Somos is a high-growth, vertically integrated ISP disrupting the telecommunications status quo. Backed by world-class investors like Union Square Ventures, Ribbit Capital, Kaszek, and Y Combinator, we are building the internet from the ground up.
We are undertaking one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in Latin America today and deploying the next-generation infrastructure needed to support an AI-native world. We build our own fiber-optic backbone, design our own proprietary hardware (the Orb), and develop our own network software (Artemis). Our mission is to provide enterprise-grade, high-speed internet to customers across Latin America at a fraction of the traditional cost.
The OpportunityWe are looking for a Sr. Manager of Finance to serve as the strategic "right hand" to the Global CFO. This is not a "standard SaaS" FP&A role. Somos is a high-stakes blend of Deep Tech, Robotics-level Hardware Engineering, and Infrastructure Deployment. You will own the master financial model, translating our rapid fiber rollout and proprietary hardware cycles into a rolling 24-month cash flow roadmap that fuels our expansion across LatAm.
Leadership & Impact (The "Strategic Architect")As a Sr. Manager, you aren't just updating spreadsheets; you are building the decision-making framework for a continental expansion. You are expected to be proactive, providing the CFO and CEO with the clarity needed to navigate a capital-intensive business model through rigorous quantitative analysis.
What You’ll Do- Strategic Trade-off Modeling: Build the framework for core business decisions. You will model the ROI of Network Penetration (increasing density in existing fiber footprints) vs. Network Expansion (laying new fiber to increase reach).
- New Business Incubation: Lead the financial case for market segmentation. You will model the trade-offs of expanding Consumer ARPU vs. the CapEx and sales intensity required to build a dedicated Enterprise business.
- AI-Augmented Physical Modeling: Implement AI-driven forecasting to predict "Step-Function" costs—where a single new neighborhood requires a massive upfront CapEx hit before the first dollar of revenue arrives.
- Hardware & Infrastructure FP&A: Lead the modeling for our proprietary hardware (the Orb) and fiber backbone. You will track Cost per Home Passed and Asset Utilization Rates, similar to a Utility, Data Center or Robotics company.
- Debt & Capital Stack Management: Integrate debt drawdown schedules into the master model to optimize liquidity and monitor debt covenants against deployment velocity.
- Expansion Scenarios: Build and maintain models for new City & Country deployments, accounting for varying labor costs, local tax regimes, and multi-currency volatility.
You are a "model-builder" who thrives on complexity. You understand that in an infrastructure business, Atoms are harder than Bits. You have experience in industries where "Unit Economics" includes the cost of a physical machine or a mile of cable.
Core Requirements:
- Modeling Mastery: You can build a three-statement model from a blank sheet that handles complex hardware lead times, debt drawdowns, city/country internet deployments, and multi-currency volatility. Your models are robust, audit-ready, and highly flexible.
- Infrastructure & Asset Experience: 6–10 years of experience working in or with high-growth Data Centers, Robotics, Telecom, Energy, or Hardware-heavy industries.
- AI & Tooling Proficiency: You lead with technology. You have a proven track record of using AI or Python-based automation to clean data, run Monte Carlo simulations, or automate complex rolling forecasts.
- Bilingual Mastery: 100% fluency in both Spanish and English. You will be auditing and integrating data directly from our LatAm operations.
The "Bonus Points":
- TMT Debt Structuring: Direct experience in TMT debt structuring. You understand the nuances of asset-backed lending, fiber-optic infrastructure financing, and covenant management for high-growth telcos.
- Venture Capital Context: Experience in a high-growth Series B/C environment.
- Project Finance: Familiarity with SPVs or ring-fenced financing for large-scale infrastructure projects.
