Responsibilities
- Curate and manage an extensive wine and beverage list, ensuring variety, quality, and alignment with the restaurant’s concept
- Lead staff training on wine knowledge, serving techniques, and upselling strategies to maximize guest satisfaction and revenue
- Oversee the daily operations of the beverage program, including inventory management, ordering, and cost control using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS
- Collaborate with culinary teams on menu planning to create harmonious food and beverage pairings that enhance guest experiences
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging guests with expert recommendations, tasting notes, and personalized attention
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, proper food handling, and sanitation practices in all beverage-related activities
- Coordinate banquet events, catering services, and special functions to showcase our beverage offerings in diverse settings
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sommelier or Beverage Director within a fine dining or upscale restaurant environment
- Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, food pairing principles, and beverage trends
- Strong background in restaurant operations including POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, cash handling, cashiering, and food service procedures
- Culinary experience or familiarity with meal preparation and food industry standards is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to upsell effectively while maintaining excellent customer service skills
- Experience in banquet service, catering events, or large-scale food service operations is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for handling beverages in a hospitality setting
