House Manager

House Manager / Nanny Hybrid Role

Location: Athens, Georgia, Timothy Road (private residence)

Type: Full-time, live-out

We are a faith based family of five seeking a reliable, proactive House Manager / Nanny to help run our household smoothly and provide high-quality care for our three children. This is a hybrid role that emphasizes meal preparation and house management with intermittent childcare. The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, discreet, and takes genuine ownership of the home and the kids’ daily experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Cooking & Meal Preparation

• Plan and prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks for the children and family
• Handle grocery shopping, farmers market, meal planning, and kitchen organization
• Cook healthy weeknight dinners and meal prep lunches / pack school lunches as needed
• Accommodate basic dietary preferences and keep the kitchen clean and stocked
• Prep ingredients or meals ahead when helpful for busy days

Childcare & Family Support

• Provide attentive, engaging care for three children (4, 7, 9)
• Manage school drop-off/pick-up, after-school activities, and transportation as needed
• Prepare healthy snacks and simple meals; support family meal routines
• Help with homework, reading, and age-appropriate enrichment activities
• Maintain consistent routines, discipline, and a calm, positive environment
• Communicate clearly and promptly with parents about the children’s days, needs, and any concerns

Household Management

• Oversee day-to-day running of the home so the household stays orderly and functional
• Execute light cleaning, laundry, and tidying (or coordinate with cleaning help)
• Handle household supplies, errands, and basic inventory
• Keep the home stocked and organized; anticipate needs before they become problems
• Coordinate vendors, maintenance, and service providers as directed
• Support property-related tasks (lawn/garden coordination, simple outdoor organization, etc.) as needed
• Maintain calendars, schedules, and household systems
• We have a 500 sf garden with vegetables and fruits we occasionally need help with

General

• Act as a calm, trustworthy presence in the home
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism
• Be flexible with occasional evenings, weekends, or travel support when needed
• Take initiative and solve small problems independently

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience as a nanny, house manager, or both (preferably with multiple children)
• Comfortable and capable with cooking and meal preparation for a family
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Warm, patient, and energetic with children
• Reliable driver with clean driving record and reliable transportation
• Excellent communicator (written and verbal)
• Comfortable with a somewhat active, outdoor-oriented household
• Discreet, trustworthy, and professional
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a dual-role (childcare household management) position
• Background working with school-age boys
• Solid home-cooking skills and interest in preparing healthy, straightforward meals
• Comfortable with light cooking and healthy meal prep
• Interest in outdoor activities, sports, or active play
• References from previous long-term family positions

Schedule and Compensation:

• Tuesday-Saturday 12 noon - 8pm (varies slightly)
• $50,000 per year
• Travel with family 1 month per year
