Role Description The Communications & Operations Coordinator internship is a remote role that supports both internal operations and external communications for SMSFA. On a day-to-day basis, the intern helps manage email and calendar coordination, maintain digital records, and support basic project tracking and follow-up. The role includes drafting and editing client-facing communications, preparing simple reports or summaries, and assisting with social, web, or other digital communication tasks as needed. The coordinator responds to routine inquiries, supports customer or client service activities, and collaborates with team members to streamline workflows and documentation. The intern may also assist with research, light data organization, and process improvements to ensure smooth operations across IT and media consulting projects. The intern also acts as secretary during meetings such as Board of Directors and Shareholders'.
Note: While this is a hybrid role the successful applicant will legally reside in Los Angeles County in California for filing purposes and occasional in-person correspondence.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to write clearly, respond professionally, and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in analytical skills and basic operations management to support data review, project coordination, and process organization.
- Experience or comfort with administrative assistance tasks, including scheduling, file organization, and maintaining shared documents or systems.
- Familiarity with common digital tools (e.g., email platforms, office productivity suites, shared drives, project or task tools) and willingness to learn new software quickly.
- Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment with clear communication about progress and deadlines.
- Interest in IT, media, communications, or consulting; prior internship, coursework, or volunteer experience in related areas is a plus.
- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a degree or certificate program in communications, business, media, information technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
