Position: Private High School Tutors
Location: Herndon, VA (In-person at family home only)
Overview:
A private family in Herndon, VA is seeking 1–2 experienced tutors to support their high school senior. The primary goal is to assist with his current schoolwork while fostering effective long-term learning and study skills in preparation for college.
The student is enrolled in advanced courses including, but not limited to:
- AP Microeconomics & Macroeconomics
- AP Government
- AP Literature
- Probability & Statistics
Tutoring sessions will focus on reviewing and supporting his existing class assignments; no additional lesson planning or materials creation is required. Ideally, one tutor would specialize in STEM subjects and the other in humanities – but we are open to candidates who can handle both. Experience working with students who have ADHD or focus challenges is preferred, though not required.
Schedule:
- 1–1.5 hours per session
- 1–2 sessions per week (i.e. 1-2 in STEM and 1-2 in Humanities)
- Flexible scheduling between Sunday evening and Thursday, outside of school hours
Compensation:
- DOE, from $50 per hour (but negotiable)
- Family is willing to compensate towards travel time
Requirements:
- Strong subject matter knowledge in assigned areas
- Proven experience tutoring high school students, preferably in AP courses
- Patience, adaptability, and ability to work with students with diverse learning styles
