An Originator is responsible for originating consumer real estate products through internal and external referral sources.  The main focus will be on developing relationships with customers, realtors, builders, other lenders and offer the highest quality of customer service.  

·         Managing customers through the entire loan process from data collection and analysis through loan conclusion; and maintaining positive client relationship.

·         Responsible for generating new loan applications in the designated lending areas by working with lenders in that area and for achieving loan origination goals. 

·         Travel to designated areas to meet with customers and lenders as needed.

·         Interview and conduct meetings with loan customers and complete the loan origination process.

·         Establish relationships with realtors, builders and other business relationships that will result in new loan growth.

·         Responsible to obtain all required loan documentation.

·         Analyze applicant financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan.

·         Corresponds with or interview applicant or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.

·         Meeting with prospective customers and referral sources concerning all consumer real estate loan processing and documentation. 

·         Develops new external referrals sources to attract new consumer real estate business.

·         Meet with managers/lenders on a quarterly basis at their office to discuss issues/goals, etc. and continue to train/mentor in real estate lending.

·         Meet with the Consumer Real Estate Manager on a quarterly basis to review status of targeted goals, discuss issues, strategic planning, etc.

·         Obtain and refer additional consumer products to the branches each month.

·         Work closely with Consumer Real Estate Underwriters, Consumer Real Estate Processors, Consumer Post Closing and STC Closers.

·         Help build morale, work with other areas, and at all levels of the bank to ensure meeting bank strategic goals and values.

·         Manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond promptly to customer needs.

·         Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information; develop alternative solutions; use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.

·         Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills for yourself.

·         Balance team (CREO group) and individual responsibilities; give and welcome feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit.

·         Must have strong verbal and written communication.

·         Have a strong knowledge of PC skills, including various programs.

·         Naturally identify opportunities for increased efficiency; desire to adapt quickly to emerging technologies and applications.

·         Demonstrate excellent decision making after digesting and understanding complex issues.

·         Attend the Manager’s meetings when necessary.

·         Work with Mortgage Originators as needed to discuss customer options.

·         Spend 12 hours minimum a year with the Consumer Real Estate Underwriter and Consumer Real Estate Processors on the processing side to learn and keep updated on the underwriting/processing side of lending.

·         Understanding all regulatory guidelines associated with real estate lending.

·         Understand and support all BSA/AML responsibilities as applicable to the position as well as consistently, accurately, and timely carry out these responsibilities in compliance with the Bank’s internal policies

·         Perform other related work and duties as assigned

Consumer real estate lending experience is necessary.  Bachelors or Associate’s degree or equivalent is a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good understanding of financial institution products and services are essential.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ability to operate a personal computer and job-related software.  (Web-based systems, Word, Excel, Core Operating System DNA).  Must be willing to learn new systems and not have any issues with emerging technology.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals.  Ability to write business correspondence, and policies using proper grammar and accurate spelling. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest, etc.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate office equipment, telephones, etc.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus
