Job description
Somerset Swim and Fitness is a boutique style health club in Nashua, NH that specializes in health services, ranging from personal training and nutrition to private and semi-private swim lessons. We are currently looking to hire Swim Instructors who are available to work weekends with the possibility of adding in weekday afternoons at a later time to teach children above the age of 3 as well as adults. Candidates need to hold a current CPR certification and swim lesson or lifeguard certification. We also offer an in house certification for those that have a certification that expires soon.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual instruction for varying ages starting at 3 years old.
- Design individualized programs to meet the participant's interests, abilities and goals.
- Educate participants on proper technique and promote swimmer safety.
- Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards and that materials and equipment are safe.
- Tend to accident or emergency situations in accordance with accident/incident protocols and/or emergency action plans.
- Enforce Pool area policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Current first aid, adult CPR/AED certification required.
- Must have an up to date swim instructor or lifeguard certification
- Previous swim instruction experience required, although an aquatic background, like swim team experience is acceptable.
- Proficient in various swimming strokes – front crawl, back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke and elementary backstroke.
- Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate skills to participants and use teaching aids such as kickboards, diving rings, pull buoys, etc.
- Ability to work independently.
- Reliable and dedicated with the ability to consistently work scheduled shifts.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
